gardening starter kits on our latest visit last saturday (2nd june) the twc team delivered gardening starter kits to households at moray drive. th diy kits came delivered in plant pots, complete with soil and seeds, and were perfect for delivering in person or as a nice wee package to come home to on your doorstep. the kits were well received all round and a perfect way to try your hand at gardening at home. we also had some residents keen to post extra seeds to their neighbours – a great way to spread the allotment love at moray drive. what’s up next we’ll be back at moray drive in a couple of weeks’ time to check on the plants and get cracking with some gardening on the site – fingers crossed for more sun! posted in uncategorized spring has sprung! april 25, 2018 by sarah comments: the daffodils are out and the long winter is behind us! a huge thanks to the team at southern housing who kept our spirits up during the winter as we continued out work at jubilee court in bracknell. spring/ summer 2018 will see us back in sunny enfield, running a number of events with our partners from origin housing . we are also working on a new project in slough with thames valley housing , where we are establishing a community allotment project with residents in moray drive. fingers crossed for lots of green fingers and sunshine! posted in community engagement • digital arts • holiday projects • twc news updates summer holidaying at watermill lane september 26, 2017 by sarah comments: during the summer break the team from together we create ran 11 sessions for young people living on the watermill lane estate in enfield. delivered in partnership with origin housing , and backed by the bbc’s children in need charity, we ran a diverse and exciting programme of events designed to stretch individual and collective creativity, build confidence and improve fitness during the long summer holiday. in total twenty-five children ranging from 12months -10 years old took part in the programme! we built an events programme that was designed to be as inclusive as possible, sessions included; planet play the twc team lead four arts and crafts session groups, which were predominantly aimed at young people aged between 5 and 12 years old. designed and delivered in a classroom style, our enthusiastic twc team encouraged each participant to embrace their creative side and create works of art with the tools that were available to them. getting into sport the twc team, also facilitated six separate sports training classes. delivered by the team at foundation sports, these sessions were designed for young people aged 7-14. activities included football, basketball, tennis and team games. these sessions where lead by marcus (on the twc team?) who was a fantastic asset, not only showing great technical skills but also a wonderful manner that made him a real hit with the young people. as a bonus event, and to celebrate international youth day, we also took a group of young people to the origin headquarters in eversholt street. this gave the young people a unique opportunity to see at first hand the great work that origin does, learn more about their work in the community and meet the people behind the programme. the day was praised highly by the participants who were inspired by what they saw and would like to do another trip like this again. this worthwhile programme has been well received by participants, parents and funders alike. the diversity of the events, and the nature of the events gave young people the chance to meet new people and make new friends, learn new skills and inspire creative thinking. we have had some excellent feedback from the programme, including; “ liked football and tennis and really like marcus, wish he came every summer.” “more sports at watermills, more tennis, more football and more dodgeball.” “ it’s great you guys have come because we would just be playing in our garden.” well done to the twc team for delivering a great series of events, and thanks again to origin and children in need who are great partners. for more information contact sarah hoyle: [email protected] posted in community engagement • twc news updates lots happening this autumn september 23, 2017 by sarah comments: there are lots of exciting new projects in the pipeline this autumn. we are continuing our work with older people at jubilee court in bracknell thanks to an additional grant from southern housing group . a season of amazing community meals await! we have been awarded a grant from bbc children in need to develop our work at watermill lane with origin housing . the leadership academy is really great project, so we are pleased to see this grow over the next two years. more updates coming soon…. posted in digital arts • film making • twc news updates thank you the hamptons! july 2, 2017 by sarah comments: this summer the team from together we create have been working with residents from the hamptons in worcester park. with funding from sutton cvs and the support from thames valley housing , we have collaborated with local young people to record their hampton stories. the film which was created over several months was shot and edited by the young people living on the hamptons estate. the project culminated with a screening of the film at the hamptons community fun day in late june. the local residents loved the film ! emma said “they liked the quality of the finished version, they were pleased with the editing and thought it looked professional.” lourdes noted “there was a professional quality of the final edit. was also pleased with it being shown at the community’s fair, gave people an opportunity to see it.” and finally alex, whose son was involved in the project said “my son liked working with the ipad. also liked filming part of the hamptons and given the opportunity to be creative.” we’d like to thank the generosity of the whole community. click here to see the film posted in business and enterprise • community engagement watermills leadership academy june 7, 2017 by sarah comments: this spring the together we create team have been working with young people from watermill lane in enfield to co-produce one of the best projects we have run in years! the leadership academy is a four part programme that encourages and nurtures young people to develop skills so they can improve their community. we worked with the young people to decide on the focus for each session. from ‘confidence’ on a zip wire to ‘caring’ at the farm, these young residents created a program which best fitted their needs and creativity. ursula bowerman who lead the project said “it was amazing to see these young people really coming out of their shells. week o
